Having a healthy body means you have to eat certain foods in order for your body to function at optimum efficiency: LIVER: consuming foods high in anti-oxidants. Foods with great amount of vitamins C, E & B such as fruits and vegs. Vegetables such as: broccoli, cauliflower & cabbage are significantly useful detoxification agents. Cleansing fruits such as: fresh berries, prunes, raisins, apples & pears are good choices for a healthy liver. Avoiding foods that are high in fat and cholestoral can also keep your liver healthy. Foods high in fibre such as: whole grain breads, rice and cereals are essential. Cooking with lots of garlic and onion (both are anti-oxidants) is fantastic way to keep liver healthy. Whole and natural organic foods that act as anti-oxidants are always healthy option and will assist in maintaining your overall health as well as your vital organ - liver. Lots of water is good for the liver too. HEART: Balanced diet with less saturated fats from red meat, more fresh fruit and vegs, fibre, fish, less sugar and sodium. Salmon (omega-3 fatty acids) virgin olive oil (lowers LDL cholestorol) oats (fibre) apples (phytochemical called quercetin) natural anti-inflammatory agent and may help prevent blood clots as well. Almonds (vit. E) whole grains, green leafy vegs, (contain folate) spinach & tomatoes (vits & lycopene). BRAIN foods: Omega 3 fatty acids, avocados, bananas, broccoli, brown rice, brussel sprouts, chicken, collard greens, eggs, legumes, oatmeal, oranges, peas, potatoes, salmon, spinach, tuna & turkey. Organs: need energy in order to convert food into essentials like blood, protein, hormones, enzymes, minerals, vitamins, anti-bodies & everything the body needs to stay healthy. KIDNEYS: Replace high protein foods (meat, eggs, milk) for low protein (grains & vegs). Complex carbohydrates: Brown rice and some vegs. Avoid refined sugar: such as cakes, pies, cookies, candies & pastries. Avoid foods high in sodium spices and herbs do not contain sodium. so are good for adding flavouring. Avoid high phosphorus foods (to keep calcium levels balanced) Broccoli is low phosphorus, good for healthy kidneys. Potassium alternatives: apples, watermelons, pears, cucumbers, cranberries, cherries and carrotts. DIGESTIVE SYSTEM: Red beets, beet greens, sweet potatoes, avocados, oats, cod liver oil..all good for a healthy digestive system. |
